The Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) was aiming to arrest Zulkifli Bin Hir alias Marwan and Basit Usman, a high-valued terrorist target, each with a bounty of 5 million US dollars on their head.
But the said raid turned into a bloody massacre when the government forces encountered the members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and BIFF in Tukalinapao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Recent reports says the casualties now climbs to 50 but expected to rise as monitoring continues in the area, said Armilla, Senior Superintendent Noel Armilla, PNP director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Monday morning.
Meanwhile, a deplorable video of fallen PNP-SAF caught in the encounter site was uploaded by a certain JM Pido Musanip in facebook (the original video was already taken down by the uploader after it was heavily criticized by Netizens).
In a separate report, Von Al Haq, vice chairman of MILF military affairs blames the PNP-SAF for lack of coordination in the attempt to arrest the Malaysian bomb maker and Jemaah Islamiyah member, Zulkifli bin Hir (aka Marwan) in Tukanalipao, Maguindanao.
That resulted into hostile confrontation between SAF, MILF and Bangsamoro Islamic Liberation Front (BIFF) headed by a ceratin Commander Guiawan.
"Imbes na dumiretso sa kuta ng huhulihin, dumaan sa kuta ng MILF ang mga pulis na naging dahilan ng bakbakan.", Haq said in Brigada news report.
Haq added that the said move by PNP-SAF is a clear violation of ceasefire agreement.
