Pax Mangudadatu Abandoned UNA, Expressed Support to Mayor Duterte

Two days before the election day, another  UNA ally throws support to Duterte.

Sultan Kudarat - Former Sultan Kudarat governor and congressman Pax Mangudadatu has allegedly abandoned UNA to support the PDP-Laban presidential candidate Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

According to a report posted in social media, Mangudadatu who is seeking the gubernatorial post of Sultan Kudarat meet with former Sarangani governor Miguel Rene A. Dominguez in the city of Koronadal to expressed his support for Digong pointing that Duterte's position for peace in Mindanao is what made him decided to finally endorse the Davao City mayor.


"His views for peace in Mindanao is also the views that I espouse thus, I am supporting President Duterte," said Mangudadatu who is running for governor in Sultan Kudarat under AKMA-PTM, a local party which is allied with UNA.

“He can unify both Muslims and Christians in Mindanao which will pave way for that elusive peace." added Mangudadatu.

Last year, Mangudadatu has reiterated his support for Binay and said in interviews that he has made up his mind. However, Mangudadatu told Dominguez that he listened to the people of Sultan Kudarat in his campaign sorties and said that the majority is shouting for Duterte.

Sultan Kudarat is composed of 11 municipalities and 1 city and has a voting population of 392,693. Mangudadatu vowed that Duterte will win in the province.


Mangudadatu is running against Liberal Party’s bet, Isulan Mayor Dado Pallasigue.

Last May 14, 2007, he was elected as representative of the first district of the province over his rival Angelo Montilla. Again, he made history for being the first representative of the first district of the province; While his son, Rep. Suharto Mangudadatu, succeeded him as provincial governor.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim "Jong" Mangudadatu, former mayor of Buluan, Maguindanao and younger brother of Governor Toto Mangudadatu pledge his support to the tough-talking mayor.

According to Kickerdaily, Jong Mangudadatu led hundreds of supporters in welcoming Mayor Duterte during his campaign sortie in Maguindano last April during the 80th founding anniversary of Buluan Town.
