Duterte Inked P39-Billion Davao Mega-Harbour Project. The First Ever Reclamation Project in Mindanao!

Davao City - Incoming President Rodrigo Roa Duterte finally approved he Joint-Venture Agreement (JVA) for the P39-billion Davao Coastline and Port Development Project covering coastal areas in Davao City.

Both parties Signed on Tuesday, June 21 by outgoing Davao City Mayor and President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and Mega Harbour Port and Development Inc. president, Victor S. Songco at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.


The JVA will now pave the way for the project to commence as Duterte is set to end his official function as mayor of the city and become the country’s 16th President. He will take his oath of office in MalacaƱang on June 30.

According to Davao Edge report, the head of the Mega Harbour marketing head Marcelito Roldan Manalili said they're targetting to  to secure all permits in a one year or less after the signing at the SMX Convention Center of SM Lanang Premier.

The project will be constructed along the 200-hectare port and residential complex which will be 40 meters away from the coast stretching from Agdao to Bucana, according to Manalili.

Under the plan, Mega Harbour will begin with the reclamation of four islands with components of port operation, commercial, industrial, and residential. It will also house the government center which has a target completion date on 2019.

Manalili said the company intends to develop the coastline to enhance the landscape.
"We will be building road networks to address traffic congestion," Manalili said even as he assured that affected residents along the coastline will be relocated in settlement area established inside the development project.

It was agreed that the relocation areas must be identified before the final approval of the application.
