According to fisherman Ronniel Canales, each of cephalopods are weighing around 10-kilos and close to a size of a human baby.

Canales added that they used large hooks in order to catch the said massive squids.

Recently, an 8ft long giant squid was also spotted in Mindanao in the remote island region of Tawi-tawi. Dozens of stunned residents crowded around the bright white squid – measuring 18 inches wide  – as it lay on the ground in the remote coastal village.

According to experts, giant squids are deep-ocean dwelling and can grow to a tremendous size due to deep-sea gigantism: recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 m (43 ft) for females and 10 m (33 ft) for males from the posterior fins to the tip of the two long tentacles (second only to the colossal squid at an estimated 14 m (46 ft).
