Top 10 PMA Cadets of 2013 ( Pudang Kalis) Class


It was first time in the history of PMA that there were 4 lady cadets  top notchers among are  Maryam Balais ( Benguet, #2) , Joselyn Advincula (Tagaytay City,#5 ) , Vanessa Factor ( Antipolo City,#8) and Maila Maniscan (South Cotabato) of Pudang-Kalis class which stands for "Puso't Dangal ng mga Kawal ng Lahing Nagkakaisa (Heart and Honor of a United Race of Soldiers).Also an a muslim words which means Sacred Sword in english.

While the class valedictorian is a very inspiring Jestoni Lanaja from Davao Del Sur, a son of hardworking tuba ( coconut wine) gatherer.

In Yahoo news, Lanaja said that due to poverty, one of his brothers could only finish high school and no proper medical assistance could be given to his disabled sister.

"I have to enter the academy (PMA) because it offers free quality education aside from giving benefits," he said before pausing and then saying: "Of course, I became a cadet to serve my country and people."

A good son and brother, he plans to send his salary back to the province to alleviate the plight of his family.

Lanaja, the valedictorian received the Philippine Army Saber awards  during their graduation ceremony yesterday( March 17).His other awards include Academic Group Award, Computing and Info Sciences Plaque, Army Professional Course Plaque, Jusmag Award, Gen. Antonio Luna Award, Spanish Armed Forces Award.

Balais, the salutatorian from La Trinidad, Benguet,received the Vice Presidential Saber and Philippine Navy Saber & Australian Defence Best Overall Performance Award. 

While as the  top 3, Bonacua received the Secretary of National Defense (SND) Award and Aguinaldo Saber.

The Class of 2013 is composed of 105 male and 19 female cadets.
