Engineer Nabbed in Davao Airport for Bullets in Luggage #TanimBala

Another tanim bala victim? Well this time not an OFW!

A 60-year-old hydro engineer, Augusto Dorde Dagan was arrested in the airport after two bullets were found inside his bag.

Dagan who's a project manager in a construction firm was on his way home to Manila when a screening at the Davao International Airport revealed the bullets inside his baggage.

According to ABS-CBN report, Ariel Mark Villareal, the screening officer  recovered two 9mm caliber bullets from Dagan's bag, and reported the incident to investigator PO3 Glen Jay Gallon.

Dagan was turned over to the Sasa Police Precinct, but reports said Dorde was released after posting bail.

Dagan will be charged with violating Presidential Decree 1866, as amended by Republic Act 8294 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions.

The said law penalizes “illegal/unlawful possession, manufacture, dealing in, acquisition or disposition of firearms, ammunition, or explosives or instruments used in the manufacture of firearms, ammunition or explosives, and imposing stiffer penalties for certain violation.”
He has been released after posting P120,000 bail but has yet to issue a statement.

Earlier this week, a 68-year-old woman and two others were arrested after authorities at the NAIA Terminal 3 discovered bullets in their luggage.

The cases in Manila are widely believed to be a scam where airport police and security personnel accused of framing up passengers so they could extort from them told Rappler.
