Due to the inclement weather associated with #VintaPH, classes in the following areas in Mindanao are suspended today, December 22, 2017:


  • Agusan del Norte – Pre-school
  • Agusan del Sur – All levels
  • Bukidnon – Pre-school
  • Butuan City - All levels ( Private & Public )
  • Camiguin – Pre-school
  • Compostela Valley – Pre-school
  • Davao City - all levels (public and private) from Dec. 21 to Dec. 23
  • Davao del Norte – Pre-school
  • Dinagat Island – Pre-school
  • Misamis Oriental – Pre-school
  • North Cotabato – Pre-school
  • Northern Davao del Sur – Pre-school
  • Northern Davao Oriental – Pre-school
  • Surigao del Norte – Pre-school
  • Surigao del Sur – Pre-school to High School

According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) bulletin issued at 11PM, the said Vinta intensified into a tropical storm as moved westward at 18 kilometers per hour (kph), expected to make landfall in Surigao Del Sur.

Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao and North Cotabato within 24 hours. Residents of these areas must make appropriate actions against flooding and landslides, coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates. Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS).
